Wudang Kungfu Performance Troupe

Wudang Kung Fu Troupe of China

Wudang Kung Fu Troupe of China is a professional artistic group established by the Wudang Mountain Special Zone Administration, specializing in Wudang martial arts performances. Since its founding, it has gathered elite disciples and inheritors of Wudang Kungfu, being the only professional group representing Wudang culture and Wudang kungfu in Wudang Mountains. Since its establishment, the troupe has been adhering to the mission of inheriting civilization and promoting the quintessence of the nation. It showcases Wudang in a three-dimensional way, allowing more people to enjoy the benefits brought by ancient civilization.

Wudang Mountain is renowned at home and abroad for its beautiful natural scenery, ancient Taoist culture, magnificent ancient architectural complexes, and exquisite Wudang martial arts. It shines worldwide with Taoism and is famous across the globe for its martial arts. In 1994, Wudang Mountain was listed in the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, becoming a "sacred peak and treasure land" and a "fairy mountain and jade pavilion" that people worship. Rooted in the fertile soil of Taoist philosophy, Wudang martial arts emphasize the middle way, harmony, Tai Chi, the Five Elements, the Nine Palaces, and the Eight Trigrams. It takes health preservation as its purpose, regards combat skills as secondary, and advocates overcoming hardness with softness and "using four ounces to deflect a thousand pounds". Through generations, the eminent Taoists and hermits in Wudang Mountain have practiced both nature and life, attaching equal importance to skills and Taoism. They have embodied Taoist philosophy in Wudang boxing theories and integrated alchemy techniques into internal martial arts, forming Wudang kung fu that contains profound philosophy and exquisite boxing skills from theory to practice. For 600 years, constrained by the Taoist rules of "rather let it be lost than passed on incorrectly" and "Tao is not talked about randomly, skills are not passed on randomly", Wudang kung fu has been passed down secretly and is mysterious and unpredictable, making it rarely seen by outsiders.

Wudang Kung Fu Troupe of China integrates the secret internal skills of Wudang Taoism into stage performances, and reasonably choreographs programs that are both traditional and artistically valuable, achieving a balance between martial arts and art, and appealing to both refined and popular tastes.

Since its establishment, Wudang Kung Fu Troupe of China has received leaders at all levels from the central to local governments. It has also been invited to visit more than 30 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, as well as China's Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions. In particular, the special Wudang martial arts performances held in Hong Kong, the "Wudang Style" special performance for the 3rd anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, and the Wudang martial arts cultural exchange tour in Taiwan have attracted attention and praise from all walks of life. During the performance in Hong Kong in 2004, the troupe was received by Mr. Jin Yong, the master of martial arts novels. They performed the Wudang Qingming Sword for Mr. Jin, who inscribed for them: "Having witnessed the sword skills, I am extremely impressed." We are willing to work with people from all walks of life to contribute to world peace and health.

During the 2008 Beijing "Olympics", "Paralympics" and the "Golden Week of National Day", the Wudang Kung Fu Troupe gave wonderful Wudang martial arts performances at the "Chinese Story" Xiangyun Cottage in the Beijing Olympic Park, attracting many celebrities and masters such as international kung fu superstar Jackie Chan, famous CCTV host Bai Yansong, and renowned cultural scholar Yu Qiuyu to watch. They also signed autographs and took photos with the troupe. During this period, the troupe received more than 300,000 Chinese and foreign tourists. The Organizing Committee of the 29th Olympic Games and the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China commented: "As participants in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, your creative planning and careful organization have made the 'Chinese Story' cultural exhibition a complete success, making outstanding contributions to the integration and promotion of Chinese culture and Olympic culture. In recognition of this, we hereby award you the 'Best Team Award'."
